if you do decide to try this qigong routine, here are one or two tips to make it work:

move your arms as though you're pushing against solid air
when pulling apart, pull as though your fingers are attached by elastic
rest on the air and let it support you
elbows down, shoulders and hands relaxed at all times

sit slightly, bending your legs a little and settling your butt.
keep the back straight without leaning forward, back or to either side

let the eyes just see, the ears just hear, the skin just feel and the mind float... keep the tongue relaxed in the mouth and touching the backs of the upper teeth
keep the throat and chest open and relaxed

feet are either parallel (the insides parallel) or - occasionally opened to +/- 45°
the legs are relaxed
anus and genitals relaxed but very slightly drawn in
lower belly relaxed
heart relaxed
back relaxed but upright ('like a pile of chinese coins')

breathe in as you rise, out as you descend; in as you pull in, out as you push out

teeth are separated slightly and the lips either slightly open or just touching
breathe through both nose and mouth, very gently indeed and time your movements to your breathing

eyes look straight in front toward the horizon or the direction your nose is pointing.
they're half open
most of the energy circulation led by the hands entails creating a cushion of air between the palms and the body and maintaining it... you can 'see' it as golden light.

check out a meridian map, if you can... it'll give you a better idea of what you're doing.

the sequence is simple and easy to learn but do THREE calming of energy gestures (hands swing out and down, up toward the head and then push down toward the dantien) at the close of each exercise (the vid often only shows him doing 2)

pause a little between each exercise, left hand on right on the dantien (you sometimes see him start from this posture before he goes into the wuqi posture (arms at the sides, body relaxed) that begins and ends each set).

practice regularly - at least 3 times a week.
