the placebo effect

Evolution could explain the placebo effect - health - 06 September 2012 - New Scientist

The placebo is real. And that means our attitudes, especially about ageing, have true effects. Sure, we have a hard time when things, cancers, bugs, get embedded, but -- only connect! -- we have so much control when we put ourselves into it.

I'm so in love with being here, in body, in mind, the sky, the creatures, the very water and rocks. They feed us. They sing and we hear them.

You have to reflect to take life's moments and roll them up in your heart to take with you. I think so many men fall to pieces when they lose their wives because they abdicate their own living to her: she, the keeper of memories. I always tell John to write his mom (who is now dying -- we're going up to her when he gets back), or with the kids, especially when they were young, take them with you on errands, simple things. You're making memories, expanding time sideways when you reflect and stuff your heart full.
